Important Of Fruits In Our Body System

Fruits are great important in the diet. They are refreshing and thirst quenching. The nutritive value of the fruits depends on it vitamins content. Especially Vitamin C; fruits are therefore valuable as protect food. The cellulose in the fruits is very useful as roughage.


Example of fruits commonly encountered are as fellows

Soft Fruits:              Raspberries, Strawberries,                                                 blackcurrant and others
Citrus Fruits:          Oranges,lemon,grapefruit, and                                         tangerines
Tropical Fruits:      Bananas, Pineapple, dates,                                                grapes,melons, paw-paw.

Fruit in season is likely to be cheaper and of better quality.

Chilled Banana Cream (Banana Ice Cream)

Ingredients
3 bananas
2 eggs whites
25g sugar
Juice from one lemon
Four drops of food colouring

Method

  1.  Wash and peel bananas.
  2. Put the lemon juice immediately plus the sugar and mash with fork
  3. Place egg whites in a mixing bowl, whisk until standing in stiff peaks.
  4. Fold in the mash banana to egg white.
  5. Add a few drops of food colouring and mix gently until colour blends into mixture
  6. Pour in to serving dishes or cup
  7. Garnish with slices of lemon
  8. Serve chilled
Banana Snow

         Ingredients and method are the same as in chilled banana cream expect that colouring is omitted

Paw paw drink

Ingredients
1 medium ripe paw paw
5cubes of sugar
1 little water

Method
1 wash,peel and mash paw-paw
2. Add half the water to it, mix and strain
3. Make shrub with the remaining half of water using all the sugar and cool
4. Add cooled syrup to stained paw paw, chill and serve cups

Sour-sop Drink

Ingredients
2 medium sour- sop
5 cubes sugar
1 litre water


Method

  1. Wash and cut sour - sops into 2 portions.
  2. Remove fleshy portion
  3. Pass through sieve and into half litre water, strain.
  4. Make syrup with the remaining half litre of water, and the five cubes of sugar, chill
  5. Mix syrup (chilled) with strained sour - sops
  6. Chill serve
Pineapple Drink 

Ingredients
1 large or 2 small pineapple
5 cubes of sugar
1/2 litre

Method
  1. Wash and cut pineapple into 4 section.
  2. Grate the sections into basin but don't grate the peeling or back
  3. Strain the pineapple, pressing the shift thoroughly, and keep the filtrate aside
  4. Add some 1/4 litre of water shafts again, stir and strain.
     Press shafts as before, add the filtrate to the last          one
5. Make syrup with the remaining (1/4 litre of water)     and cool
6. Add cooled syrup to the pineapple filtrate, mix and chil.
7. Serve Chilled in the individual service cups

How To Prepare Orange Drink (Orangeade)

Ingredients
3 large or 4 small oranges
Water to dilute as required
Sugar to sweeten as required

Method
  1. Wash and cut oranges in halves
  2. Squeeze out the juice using juicer.
  3. Strain ,dilute and Sweeten with sugar as required
  4. Serve chilled
Lemon Drink ( Lemonade)

Ingredients
5 to 6 lemons fruits
5 tumbler or what to dilute it
3 to 10 cubes sugar to sweeten

Method 

As in orange drink above
